THE CONDITIONS FOR THE PRAYER

Image
THE CONDITIONS FOR THE PRAYER By Shaykh-al-Islām Imām Muḥammad Ibn AbdulWahāb  Translated by Isma'īl Alarcon   The conditions for the Prayer are nine: (1) Islaam; (2) Sanity; (3) Reaching the age of  Maturity; (4) Lack of Ritual Impurity (i.e. Ablution); (5) Removal of Filth; (6) Covering the ‘Awrah; (7) The Entrance of the Proper Time; (8) Facing the Qiblah; and (9) The Intention.  The First Condition – Islaam: Its opposite is Kufr (disbelief). The actions of disbeliever are not accepted (by Allaah), regardless of what good deed he may perform. The proof for this is Allaah’s saying:  مَا كَانَ لِلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ أَن يَعۡمُرُواْ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ شَٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِٱلۡكُفۡرِۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ وَفِى ٱلنَّارِ هُمۡ خَٰلِدُونَ  “It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of Allaah while they witness against their own selves of disbelief. The works of such are in vain and in Hell will they abide forever.” [Surah At-Tawbah:...

How To Pray

Image
Description Of The Prophet's ﷺ Prayer by Allamah Al-Imām Al-Albanī رحمه الله  FACING THE KA'BAH (Istiqbaalul-Ka'bah)  (1) If you stand, O Muslim, to pray - then face the direction of the Ka'bah, wherever you are, in obligatory Prayers and optional Prayers. This is one of the pillars of the Prayer, such that the Prayer is not valid without it.  (2) The obligation to face the direction of the Ka'bah is removed from a warrior having to pray the Fear Prayer and during severe fighting. It is also removed from one who is rendered incapable of it, such as one who is (very) ill, or one who is upon a ship, car or airplane and who fears that the Prayer time will reach its end. It is also removed from one who prays optional Prayer or the Witr Prayer upon a riding beast or vehicle. It is, however, preferable for him, if he is able, to turn it towards the Qiblah for the initial  takbeer. After that it does not matter in which direction it turns.  (3) It is obligatory upon ev...

Virtues Of The Prayer

VIRTUE OF THE PRAYER - SHAYKH ṢALĪḤ AL-UTHAYMĪN Source: Sifat Salaat-in-Nabee, by Shaykh Uthaymeen Translator: Isma’eel alarcon, Produced by: al-ibaanah The Prayer: is the second pillar from the pillars of Islaam and the most important pillar of Islaam after the Shahaadah (testimony) of Faith. The Prayer: is a link between the servant and his Lord. The Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) said: “Indeed, when one of you prays, he speaks privately with his Lord.” [Reported by Al-Bukhaaree] And Allaah says in the qudsee hadeeth: “I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant into two parts, and My servant will have what he asks for. So when the servant says: ‘Al-Hamdulillaahi Rabb-il-‘Alameen’, Allaah says: ‘My servant has praised Me.’And when he says: ‘Ar-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem’, Allaah says: ‘My servant has extolled Me.’ And when he says: ‘Maaliki-yawm-id-Deen’, Allaah says: ‘My servant has honored Me.’ And when he says: ‘Iyyaaka Na’bdu wa Iyyaaka Nasta’een’, Allaah says: ‘This ...

THE CONDITIONS OF LĀ 'ILĀHA ILLALLĀHU

Image
THE CONDITIONS OF LĀ ILĀHA ILLALLĀHU 1. العم (Knowledge) This means knowing the meaning of the Shahadah, both the negation (There is no god) and the affirmation (except Allah), knowledge as opposed to ignorance of this. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “So know (O Muhammad) that La ilaha ill -Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)…” [Muhammad 47:19] “except for those who bear witness to the truth knowingly [i.e., that there is no god except Allah, and they know” [al-Zukhruf 43:86] – they know in their hearts the meanings of the words that their mouths speak. It is reported in al-Sahih that ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever dies knowing that there is no god except Allah will enter Paradise.”   This is certainty as opposed to doubt, whereby the person who says this [the Shahadah] is absolutely certain about the meaning of these words, because faith does no...

The Pillars Of Islām

بِسْـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــمِ اﷲِالرَّحْمَانِ اارَّحِيم THE PILLARS OF ISLĀM Islam is about beliefs and laws Islam is based on five pillars which the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has explained for us. The Prophet  said: “Islam is built upon five [pillars]: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establishing regular prayer (salah); paying the zakah; Hajj (pilgrimage) and fasting Ramadan.” (Agreed upon; narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 8)  Islam is both belief and laws, in which Allah and His Messenger have told us what is halal and what is haram, morals and good manners, acts of worship and how to interact with people, rights and duties, and scenes of the resurrection. When Allah completed this religion, He chose it to be the way of life for all of mankind until the Hour begins:  “This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as...
